About
TheHagueCentral's aim is to provide everyone who is visiting The Hague with all the information needed to have a pleasant stay in this wonderfull city.Â
TheHagueCentral's theme is based around a dutch nursery rime called "In Den Haag daar woont een graaf" which goes like this. (The translation is written below each line for all non dutch visitors).
In Den Haag daar woont een graafÂ
In the hague there lives a count
En zijn zoon heet Jantje.
and his son's name is Jantje.
Als je vraagt: Waar woont je pa?
If you ask him: Where is it you daddy lives?
Dan wijst hij met zijn handje.
He will point out with his hand.
Met zijn vingertje en zijn duim,
With his index finger and his thumb,
Op zijn hoed draagt hij een pluim,
On his hat he wears a feather,
Aan zijn arm een mandje.
In his arm he has a basket.
Dag, mijn lieve Jantje!
Goedbye my dear Jantje!
Of course this all rimes nicely in Dutch and some of the meaning may have been lost in translation but this nursery rime is known trough out The Netherlands and it is truely part of The Hague.Â
TheHagueCentral's logo symbols Jantje's hand showing the way to his fathers house, just as TheHagueCentral will show you around The Hague.Â
